Your cat visits and leaves. A few minutes later the drum turns, sifts the clumps out of the clean litter and drops them into the sealed bin underneath. Clean litter falls back where it belongs. You are not scooping twice a day, and you are not checking the tray to see whether it needs doing.

Designed around the cat

Safety built into the shape, not bolted on

The entrance stays open for the entire cycle, so a cat is never shut in or shut out and can always walk away. Nine sensors, including weight sensing and cat detection, stop the drum the moment a cat is detected, and the structure is shaped to avoid the pinch points that make people nervous about automatic boxes.

Odour control

The smell stays in the bin

Waste drops into a 6.7 litre compartment that seals shut, and a deodorising system works on the air inside it. Because clumps are removed after each visit rather than sitting in the tray until you get to them, most of the smell never gets the chance to build up in the first place.

A low step for kittens and older cats

The entry sits 8.26 inches from the floor. Cats with stiff hips, cats recovering from something, kittens still growing into their legs — they walk in instead of hauling themselves up and over a tall wall. The low entry does not cost you interior space, because the room is behind the opening rather than above it.

A cleaning cycle runs at roughly 36 decibels. That matters twice over: it will not wake you from the hallway at three in the morning, and it does not startle a cat who is still deciding whether to trust a moving litter box.

When it does need you

Built to be taken apart and washed

Every few weeks it wants a proper clean, and that should not be a job you dread. The drum lifts out. The liner inside is waterproof and scratch-resistant, so litter dust and urine wipe off instead of soaking in, and drainage holes let everything dry quickly after a rinse.

Connect it to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and the app logs each visit: who it was, how long they stayed and what they weighed. Changes in how often a cat goes, or a weight that drifts over weeks, are the kind of thing you would otherwise only notice late. You can also start a clean or set a schedule from your phone. None of it is required — the box cleans itself with or without the app.

What size cats can use it?

Cats from 3.3 lb up to 30 lb. The interior holds 106 litres and the entrance is roughly 13.7 by 19.7 inches, so a large adult cat can walk in, turn around and dig without touching the sides.

Can several cats share it?

Yes — it is built for multi-cat households. It cleans after each visit rather than on a timer, so the next cat finds a clean tray, and the app can tell your cats apart and log them separately.

Is it suitable for senior cats?

The step-in height is 8.26 inches, which is low enough for most older cats and cats with stiff joints to walk in rather than climb. The wide entrance also means they are not squeezing through a narrow opening.

How low is the entrance?

8.26 inches from the floor to the lip. The low step does not cost you interior room — the 106 litre chamber sits behind it.

Will it fit in my space?

It is roughly 24.8 inches wide, 20 inches deep and 22.5 inches tall. Measure the spot you have in mind, and leave room at the back for the power lead.

What litter should I use?

Standard clumping litter. It holds 9 litres, and the system needs firm clumps so the sifting works properly.

Do I have to buy Tailwell litter?

No. There is no proprietary cartridge, refill or subscription. Use whatever clumping litter your cat already likes.

How often do I empty the waste compartment?

The sealed bin holds 6.7 litres. How long that lasts depends on how many cats use it and how much litter clumps each time, so check it as part of your weekly routine — the app shows visit activity, which is a good guide.

What can be taken out for cleaning?

The drum lifts out for washing, and the waste bin, liner and mat all come out too. The interior liner is waterproof and scratch-resistant, and drainage holes let it dry faster after a wash.

Does it work without the app?

Yes. It cleans automatically after each visit on its own. The app adds scheduling, manual cleaning and the tracking — it is not needed for the box to do its job.

Does it need Wi-Fi?

Only for the app features, and only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Without a connection it still runs its automatic cycle as normal.

What does the app actually show?

Visits, how long each visit lasted, weight readings and how they change over time, and which cat it was in a multi-cat home. You can also start a clean or set a schedule from it.

What if my cat will not use it?

You have 30 days. If it is unused and in its original packaging we will refund it — you cover the return shipping. Anything that arrives damaged is replaced or refunded without a return.
